Metal Diaphragm Technology (MDT™)
All NEAR® speakers feature MDT (Metal Diaphragm Technology), metal alloy cones and tweeter domes for optimum sound quality, reduced listener fatigue, and flawless performance and reliability even under extreme temperatures for many years.

MDT is lighter, stiffer, faster
NEAR’s Metal Diaphragm Technology (MDT) alloy cone is ceramic-hardened aluminum formed to a catenary dome shape to increase rigidity. Specially designed geometric ribs further stiffen the cone and break up resonance modes.
MDT delivers all the details, naturally
MDT diaphragms reveal the hidden nuances in music without sounding "bright" and etched. Listeners enjoy a clarity of sound refreshingly devoid of stridency, sizzle and false brightness.
MDT improves the listening experience
"Musicality" is hard to define—yet you know it when you hear it. It may reveal itself in the delicate tones of a violin, or in the distinct imaging of an orchestra. But perhaps the best indication of musicality is when you feel refreshed after listening—even for hours. NEAR speakers are simply more musical, more listenable, more lifelike.
